SUBJECT: ART YEAR 7

UNIT TITLE - ART AND MY WORLD

THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:
Art at Year 7 is designed to encourage students to:

  • Use a variety of 2D media and methods including drawing, painting, printmaking and collage
  • Use art experiences to find out about themselves and their world
  • Understand and explore the use of colour line and texture in their own work and in that of others
  • Make individual judgments about their own work and the artwork of others
  • Discuss and compare works of Art at a basic level

THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE:
The course is for duration of one semester.

  • exploring art colour wheel (colour)
  • repeated pattern (line and shape, colour)
  • still life drawing (line and tone)
  • texture rubbings (texture)
  • me: self portrait (line colour)
  • portraits: mono print/drawing of my friend (line, colour tone)
  • my Space: my room, collage (line texture and perspective)

SUBJECT: ART YEAR 8

UNIT TITLE: ART AND THE WORK OF ARTISTS

THE PURPOSE OF THIS COURSE:
At the end of this unit students will be able to:

  • Develop drawing and design skills.
  • Understand the role of Art in creating and defining trends within popular culture.
  • Understand the changing role of artists in society, including that of women.
  • Respond to and interpret the art work of others.
  • Identify issues connected with artistic works including reproductions, fakes, valuation, collections and patronage.


THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE:
The course is for a duration of one semester:

  • Fantastic visions:
    surrealist photo montage, surrealist drawing (colour, line, tone).
    · Computer generated Images
  • Posters and Pop:
    Group mural or individual painting.
  • Artist's Techniques:
    Abstract painting (line, colour, texture, tone).
  • Art in Multiples:
    A set of multi-coloured prints (line, pattern, registration).
    Drawing through observation (line, tone, pattern)
