SUBJECT: MUSIC YEAR 7
THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:
This course introduces students to a variety of unusual skills:
playing, composing, listening to and notating music. Playing skills
concentrate on accurate performance both individually and as part
of a group. The subject is compulsory for all students for one semester.
THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE:
- Reading and writing traditional notation
- Listening to music through its elements: pitch, volume, dynamics,
timbre, tempo and form
- Rock n' Roll music.
- Instruments of the orchestra
- Performance using guitar, glockenspiels and percussion instruments
THE ASSESSMENT IN THE COURSE:
Assessment:
- Written Test
- Aural Test
- Practical performance both individually and as a group
- Various written exercises

SUBJECT: MUSIC YEAR 8
THE PURPOSE OF THIS COURSE:
This course develops the skills introduced in Year 7. Performance
skills emphasise individual practice and performance. The subject
is an elective one which runs for one semester.
THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE:
- Reading and writing music in the treble and bass clef, and tablature
notation
- A study and form in music
- Jazz music
- Performance using keyboard and guitar
THE ASSESSMENT IN THE COURSE:
