SUBJECT: PHYSICAL EDUCATION YEAR 7
& 8
THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:
- Emphasis on ball skills and movement. Minor games are used to
practise skills learnt
- Areas of practical study include: fitness, game rules and tactics,
safety and health related studies
- Students are directed into possible sporting areas in the school
and into community sporting organisations to extend their physical
needs.
THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE:
- Fitness development and testing
- Movement and coordination through minor games, athletics, gymnastics,
running and swimming
- Ball skills and team strategies through a range of activities
including T. ball, Cricket, Tennis, Football, Soccer, Hockey,
Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton and Tabletennis
THE ASSESSMENT IN THE COURSE:
In years 7 and 8 assessment of students is based on participation,
enthusiasm, interest and personal improvement in a wide range of
areas. Projects and practical testing are also used to assess students.
