Title - Past Results

We are pleased with the 2000 VCE results: the majority of our students worked very conscientiously right until the end of the examination period and achieved some very satisfying outcomes for themselves.

While they are by no means the sole 2000 School Captains and Representativesindicator of a successful education, the VCE results nonetheless mark a watershed in the lives of our most senior students by securing their entry into preferred tertiary and other courses and setting them on a sound vocational / professional pathway for life.

1. Average Study Score of Northcote High School students in all studies, 1996-2000.
This continues to improve, as the 2000 data shows. It constitutes an improvement of almost 6% in average results, in five years.

                        Like schools                        Northcote H.S               Difference

1996                 26.4                              25.6                              -0.8
1997                 26.3                              26.7                              +0.4
1998                 26.0                              26.6                              +0.6
1999                 25.9                              26.5                              +0.6
2000                 25.5                              27.4                              +2.0
This is a remarkable and consistent improvement trend. It means our students get – on average – study scores 2 points higher than similar schools.

2. VCE completion rate for Unit 3/4 studies
95.1% of all VCE studies were completed successfully at Northcote High School, by comparison with 91.6% for like schools.
(This should not be confused with the % of students completing VCE successfully, which is about 98% for Northcote High School)

3. The number of “A”s.
Northcote High School’s frequency of “A’s” at 13.4, was above the state average of 12.9.
